Sophomore Sean Fee (103#) and Junior Matt Fee (140#) participated in the 2010 OHSAA State Wrestling tournament and placed 5th and 3rd respectively.
Sean Fee’s first appearance at the state tournament started off with a 8-4 decision in the opening round. Fee then moved into the quarterfinals, where he lost to eventual state champion, Ryan Taylor. In the consolation bracket, Fee would bounce back with two wins before dropping a match. To cap off his sophomore season and first state tournament experience, Fee defeated his opponent 7-3 to capture 5th place.
Junior Matt Fee was making his second straight appearance to the state tournament. He started the tournament off with on the right foot, with a technical fall in the first round. In the quarterfinal round, Fee opened up the scoring quickly and went on to a 12-8 decision. The semifinals put him up against former state champion Tucker Armstrong. In a match with a lot of action, Fee fell 8-4. Matt came back to win 2 consecutive matches, one by fall and one by decision, to go 4-1 on the weekend and capture 3rd place.
Along with the Fee brothers having a solid performance at the state tournament, they were also able to give an appropriate send off to their uncle, Head Coach Jack Mulhall. This tournament was to be Mulhall’s final state tournament in his final season of coaching at
Lake
Catholic
. Through Mulhall’s seven years of coaching at
Lake
Catholic
has had not only had successes on the mat, but also has been successful in building character and core values in his wrestlers. Coach Mulhall’s legacy will, without a doubt, continue to have an effect on the Lake Catholic Wrestling program for years to come. Through his hard work and dedication, he has laid the foundation for the future of the program. |
